Last night I was watching the Steelers/49ers and watched as a Blackout happened twice. Once before the game and once during the game. It made me think about so many youth ministry and church events where something technical went out right when we needed it. This past weekend on our youth retreat we had several issues with that. First the cord to the projector at the camp was bad, so it wouldnt connect to work. Instead we had to make a quick adjustment and use a short cord that we had brought. Then we also had to type in words into propresenter because the camp internet kept going in and out and we were unable to connect to SongSelect to download the lyrics.
Its always good to have a backup plan in ministry when it comes to technology. I always bring and have more cords than ever needed. I always bring an extra projector and most of the times an extra laptop. I frequently backup my songs on a thumb drive in case something goes wrong with my song library. It never hurts to be prepared. Even if you have to have a short amount of dead time, its better than being stuck with nothing!
